Selection Subsets

Feature Description

With selection subsets, the Analyst explicitly populates the subset by selecting the objects, ports or failure effects that are to be included in the subset. This can be done quickly by invoking the Add dialog from the Properties panel or using right-click menus during active editing.

How To Create a Selection Subset

1
Right-click on the top-level "SUBSETS" folder in the Explorer Tree and choose "New Subset..." from the pop-up context menu.

Alternative: Choose "New.." from the Subsets submenu within the Design menu.
2
On the Create New Subset dialog, type in the name to be given to the new subset, select the subset type labeled "Explicit Selection(s)" and then click on the "OK" button.

How To Define a Selection Subset (in Standard Editing Mode)

1
In the Standard Editing Mode, click on the selection subset.
2
Choose the Properties tab within the context panels.
3
On the Properties panel, use the Type dropbox to specify the type of elements (objects, ports or effects) to be included in the subset.

Note: any members already added to the subset will be converted to the new type.
4
To add elements to the subset, click on the "Add" button on the Properties panel and use the Select dialog to choose the elements to be added.
5
To remove elements from the subset, highlight those elements on the Properties panel and then click on the "Remove" button.

How To Modify the Elements in a Selection Subset (using Active Editing Mode)

1
Create and define the selection subset (following the steps listed above).
2
Invoke Active Editing for the path subset.
3
In the main design window, right-click on the object associated with the element to be added or removed from the subset.
4
Choose "Add to Subset" or "Remove from Subset" from the Active Subset submenu within the pop-up context menu.
