Creating the Data Source

Feature Description

Topological data can be imported into eXpress from an Excel spreadsheet using a Spreadsheet Topology Import data source. This data source must be created and configured within Data Source Administration.

How to Create an Spreadsheet Topology Import Data Source

To create a data source for importing topology, follow these steps:

1	Invoke the Data Source Administration dialog by selecting "Data Source Administration" from the Import submenu within the File menu. Alternative : Press the Ctrl+D key combination.
2	Click on the "New" button (the Create Data Source dialog will appear). Alternative: Right-click on the "Plug-In Data Sources" folder and select "New Data Source..." from the pop-up context menu.
3	Using the Create Data Source dialog, select "Spreadsheet Topology Import" and click on the "OK" button.
4	Fill out the fields on the Main Topology Import panel that will now appear on the Data Source Administration dialog.
5	Click on the "Update Now" button to cause the import to occur.
6	If you wish to maintain an active link to the spreadsheet file (so that values are re-imported when the file changes), enable the "Update Interval" checkbox.
7	Press the "Done" button to exit the Data Source Administration dialog.
