Test Set Usage

Feature Description

The Test Set Usage setting allows the Analyst to specify whether the tests in a given test set should be used for fault detection, fault isolation, both or neither. In a diagnostic study, the Test Set Usage setting is used to determine which test sets appear in the Test Candidates lists on the Detection Options and Isolation Options panels. Test Set Usage can be specified either in Grid View or on the test set Details panel.

Note: Because test sets whose Usage is set to "Non-Diagnostic" are not gathered during diagnostics, this setting can significantly reduce the time needed to generate a diagnostic test sequence (in large hierarchical designs, for example, the Analyst may wish to set lower-level test sets to "Non-Diagnostic" when all of their test definitions are inherited into upper-level hierarchical tests, yet these definitions do not themselves represent individually performable tests).

How To Specify the Test Set Usage (using Grid View)

1
In the Explorer Tree, select the test set for which the usage is to be changed.

Alternative: Test set usage can be modified for all test sets by invoking Grid View with nothing selected.
2
Click on the Grid View icon on the View toolbar.
3
If necessary, select "Test Sets" from the Contents Type drop-box on the Grid Control panel.
4
Enable "Test Set Details" on the Grid Control panel.
5
Select the test set usage in the Usage column in the grid. (Note: the setting can be copied from one test set to other rows in the column so that a batch of test sets can all be easily set to the same setting).

How to Specify Test Set Usage (using Panels)

1
In the Explorer Tree, select the test set for which the status is to be changed.
2
Click on the Details tab in the context panels.
3
Select the appropriate entry from the Usage drop-box on the Details panel.
