An eXpress design can contain two distinct sets of reliability data—functional reliability data and failure mode reliability data. Because functional and failure mode reliabilities are often derived from different sources, it is possible for a single design to contain conflicting sets of reliability data (either because the failure rates for output functions and failure modes do not correspond, or because the Analyst has explicitly defined only one of the two sets of data).
Because hybrid diagnostics require the manipulation of both functional and failure mode probabilities, the software must correlate the two sets of numbers.
