Failure Mode Precedence retains the ratios between failure mode probabilities (based on the failure mode reliability data defined for that object) and uses a propriety routine to adjust the functional probabilities so that they correlate to the probabilities of the failure modes that affect them. Although, in this approach, functional reliability data is taken into consideration as the functional probabilities are adjusted, the failure mode reliability data takes precedence.
