The Tests to Detect metrics appear in the Tests to Detect/Isolate a Failure section of the Fault Isolation Report. These metrics describe the number of tests required to detect a primary failure using the diagnostic sequence in the current diagnostic study.
Minimum
The Minimum Detection Tests is the smallest number of tests needed to detect a failure that is detectable by the current diagnostic sequence. For a non-empty diagnostic sequence, this Test limit should always be 1.
Maximum
The Maximum Detection Tests is the largest number of tests needed to detect a failure that is detectable by the current diagnostic sequence. In most cases, this Test limit will equal to the number of detection tests in the test sequence.
Average
The Average Detection Tests is calculated by summing the number of detection tests needed to diagnose each isolated fault group and dividing the sum by the total number of isolated fault groups:
the number of tests needed to detect a failure that can be isolated to the ith isolated fault group
Expected
The Expected Detection Tests is the mean number of tests to detect a primary failure that would be achieved if the the current diagnostic sequence were to be employed with a fielded system. The metric is calculated by multiplying the number of detection tests needed to diagnose each isolated fault group by the fault group's aggregate failure probability and then summing the results for all isolated fault groups:
