Fault Group Counting Method

The Fault Group Counting Method specifies the way that individual fault groups are counted within the Fault Isolation Report. This setting (which is selected on the affects the calculation of Test limits listed in the columns labeled Isolation Percentages Using Testing Only, as well as the Total Fault Groups and Average Fault Group Size metrics. eXpress offers three methods for counting fault groups:

All Fault Group Nodes
The All Fault Group Nodes method counts each fault group cell in the Diagnostic Flow Diagram as a separate fault group when calculating non-probability-weighted statistics in the Fault Isolation Report.

Fault Groups with Unique Functions
This method counts each fault group with unique functions (or failure modes) as a separate fault group. If two fault groups cells in the Diagnostic Flow Diagram represent identical sets of elements (that is, contain the same isolated functions and failure modes), then they will be counted as a single fault group when calculating non-probability-weighted statistics in the Fault Isolation Report. This is the default method.

Fault Groups with Unique Items
This method counts each fault group with unique items as a separate fault group. If two fault groups cells in the Diagnostic Flow Diagram represent identical sets of relaceable items, then they will be counted as a single fault group (even if they represent different isolated functions and/or failure modes) when calculating non-probability-weighted statistics in the Fault Isolation Report.
