Defining Attributes

Feature Description

 
Prior to assigning attribute values to any of the various elements in an eXpress design, an attribute definition must first be created. Attributes are defined using the Attribute Definitions dialog. When an attribute is defined, a default value can be specified, Attribute types are defined in Attributes Overview  and the classes of design elements to which the attribute applies.
 

How to Create an Attribute

-   Attributes are created using the following steps:

In the Design menu, select Attributes and then choose "Define..." to invoke the Attribute Definitions dialog.
 
Alternative: Press the Ctrl+Shift+A key combination .

Click on the blank grid cell next to the green asterisk and type the name of the new attribute. Press <ENTER> when finished.

Choose the attribute type using the Type drop box. Attribute Definitions (types)

Select the checkboxes that correspond to the entities for which the attribute is to be defined.

Define default values as necessary by pressing the "Edit Default" button next to any of the checked entities.
