Attributes are analyst defined characteristics of the model that allow us to control and measure aspects of concern about the model and it's parts. They are the key to populating the model data elements for Diagnostic Analysis. Following is a list of Attribute types and links to how to use them in the modeling process. In order to support a wide variety of uses, eXpress provides many Types of Attributes. When creating a new attribute, the Analyst selects the attribute type that best reflects the type of data to be stored within that attribute.
How to Work with Attributes
There are two methods utilized to create Attributes
Using predefined Attribute Templates or combinations of Attribute Templates supplied with eXpress or defined by the Analyst in previous modeling efforts.
Although a couple of characteristics (such as the abbreviation field) have been predefined for each eXpress element type, attributes are the main way in which characteristics are associated with these elements. Analysts often set up attributes not only for the data to be used within eXpress analyses, but also for properties that are to be utilized by other tools that receive their data from eXpress (thereby allowing eXpress to act as adata governing toolin an overall development or maintenance process). Attributes can be defined for nearly all elements in an eXpress design. Click on the following links to learn more about attributes for specific element types:
