Failure Mode Attributes

Feature Description

What are Failure Mode Attributes?

Failure mode Attributes are Attributes that are used to describe additional characteristics of a failure mode. Once a failure mode Attribute has been created, it must be enabled for failure modes and a default value should be set up.

When to Use Failure Mode Attributes

Currently, the only place within eXpress where failure mode Attributes are utilized is within a FMECA chart. When a FMECA is generated, there is an option to include the Attribute in a custom column. If included, any time the failure mode is listed for a particular row of the FMECA, the Attribute value will be looked up and used in the column created for that Attribute. Attributes can be set up in eXpress to hold information that is not used within eXpress analyses, but rather by other tools in the systems engineering process.
