Failure Modes can be filtered both by Name and by Affected Functions. In this example no filter has been applied; so the list contains all functions on the selected object. Notice that, in addition to the text filter, another new filter has been added to this dialog— immediately to the right of the text filter box. You can use this filter to reduce the list so that it contains only functions that are affected by the selected failure mode (based on current settings):
How to Filter Failure Modes
No Filter Situation (default)
You will find this option particularly useful when reviewing failure modes for objects with a large number of functions. Also useful is the third setting for this dropbox, which displays only those functions which are not affected by the selected failure mode: Here the Filter has been set to Hydraulic. With models that have many failuire modes this is very essential to reduce the amount of Failure modes shown.
One Filter Situation
You can use this option to help identify any output functions that need to be added to a failure modes list of Affected Functions. Here both Filter fields have been used to limit what failure modes are shown and what specific Functions are effected.
