Naming & Renaming Failure Modes

Feature Description

Failure mode names are initially entered using the grid on the Failure Modes panel and can later be renamed using either this panel or from within Grid View. Although failure modes do not have to have unique names (eXpress will not confuse failure modes with the same name), the Analyst should try to use unique names for each failure mode on the same object (otherwise, it will be difficult to distinguish between these failure modes when they are listed in reports). Failure modes on different objects can be given the same name; within eXpress reports, the object with which each failure mode is associated will always be apparent.

How to Name or Rename Failure Modes (using Panels)

1
Select the object for which failure modes are to be edited.
2
Click on the Failure Modes tab within the context panels
3
Double-click on the name of the failure mode on the Failure Modes panel.
4
Enter the new name and press the <ENTER> key or click away from the field to complete the entry.
