Function Attributes

Feature Description

What are Function Attributes?

Function Attributes are Attributes that are used to describe additional characteristics of an output function. Furthermore, function Attributes can contain properties that are to be utilized by other tools that receive their data from eXpress (thereby allowing eXpress to act as a data governing tool in an overall development or maintenance process). Before Attribute values can be assigned to individual functions, an Attribute must first be created and enabled for functions, with a default value being set up (optionally) for functions.

When to Use Function Attributes

One of the most common uses of function Attributes is to represent the reliability (i.e., failure rate) for output functions. Reliability Attributes on functions are used within many eXpress analyses. Attributes can also be set up in eXpress to hold information that is not used within eXpress analyses, but rather by other tools in the systems engineering process.
