Attribute Definitions (types)

The Attribute Definitions dialog (depicted below) is used to create or modify attribute definitions within an eXpress design, as well as view attribute definitions that have been imported via a Design Template. This dialog can be invoked by selecting "Define..." from the Attributes submenu within the Design menu, or by pressing the key combination Ctrl+Shift+A on the keyboard.

List of Attributes

1. List of Attributes
This list contains an entry for each attribute currently defined within the model. When an entry is selected in this list, the corresponding attribute type and design element types for which the attribute is defined are displayed on the right side of the dialog. Attributes can also be created, renamed or deleted using this list.

Default Values

3. Default Values
This section contains a checkbox for each design element type for which attributes can be defined (the checkbox should be enabled if values of the selected attribute can be entered for elements of that type). When a design element type is enabled for an attribute, the default value can be established by clicking on the "Edit Default" button to the right of that entry. Note: Because there is only a single instance of each design attribute (i.e., attributes that are associated with the entire design), there is no "Edit Default" button for design attributes.
