Shared Defaults on Attributes

Feature Description

You now have the ability to specify that an Attribute’s default settings be shared by all design elements with which that Attribute is associated. This is particularly useful when a checklist Attribute is associated with multiple design element types (such as functions and failure modes).

To share Attribute defaults across all associated design elements, simply highlight the desired Attribute on the Attribute Definitions dialog (depicted at left) and then enable the “Share Defaults” checkbox. If that Attribute is already associated with multiple element types, then you will be asked which element type has the desired defaults.

When defaults are shared for an Attribute, the Edit Default button is only enabled for the associated element type that is listed first on the dialog (regardless of which type was selected as the source of the defaults). In the example at left, the default settings for the “Mission Critical” Attribute are used for both functions and failure modes.
