Signature Tests Overview

Feature Description

What are Signature Tests?

Signature tests are coverage-based tests that are performed at a specified test location (output flag).

Summary - Signature Test Definition
Definition Method:
Selecting coverage elements (coverage-based)
Test Point:
eXpress suggests possible test locations
Default Coverage:
(must all be upstream from at least one location)
Symmetry Options:
Signature Identifies Operation (default)
Signature Identifies Malfunction
Signature Identifies Operation / Malfunction
Interference:
Signature Indentifies Operation only
Hierarchical Inheritance:
New Test Location, Stimuli
Additional Interference (based on symmetry)

The test coverage associated with a signature test is explicitly enumerated by the Analyst and does not change as the design matures or when the test is inherited into higher design levels. Interference only exists when the test symmetry is set to "Signature Identifies Operation" (the default setting). On the test's Interpretation panel, the Analyst can disable creation interference and observation interference, but not propagation interference (if it is desired that all interference be disabled, this can be done by setting the test's symmety to "Signature Identifies Operation / Malfunction").

Note: Hierarchical use of Signature tests require that the analyst choose the upper level observation point when the test his used hierarchically
