The symbol description is the name that appears when you pause the mouse pointer over a symbol in the Symbol Library window. This description should uniquely describe the symbol. It is this description that will be exported to the Symbols column by the eXpress Model topology export. Because this description is often left blank for newly-created symbols, the Analyst will usually need to edit the description shortly after creating the symbol.
How To Edit a Symbol's Description

In the Symbol Library window, right-click mouse button on the symbol to be edited

Select "Edit Description..." from the pop-up context menu.

Use the Edit Symbol Description dialog to modify the description and then click on the "OK" button.
