Forced Propagation

Feature Description

The "Forced Propagation" setting on ports, which applies only to output and bidirectional port, causes all net functions emerging from a port to be automatically included in any Analyst defined input filters on ports connected to the same net.  Net functions that have been included in an input filter due to forced propagation will not be discarded when model changes result in those net functions being automatically recreated.

This option can be enabled manually on the Port Details panel (checkbox shown below or set for a batch of ports in Grid View.

On the Input Functions panel, net function dependencies that have been included due to forced propagation are listed in bold green text. If you attempt to remove one of these net functions from the list, a message will appear explaining why this cannot be done.

Note: Forced propagation will be immensely helpful in situations where input functions have been filtered to prevent feedback or cross-talk; it should not be used, however, in filters whose purpose is to constrain the propagation of individual net functions that emerge from a port.
