Attribute Editing Using Grid View

Feature Description

Grid View offers a powerful interface that allows "Attribute values" to be easily and quickly edited. Attribute definitions, on the other hand, cannot be modified using Grid View (the Analyst should invoke the Attribute Definitions dialog to create or modify Attribute definitions).

How to Assign Attribute Values Using Grid View

1
Select the design element(s) (objects, etc.) for which Attributes are to be edited.

Alternative: Attributes can be edited for all elements of a particular type by invoking Grid View with nothing selected.
2
Click on the Grid View icon on the View toolbar.
3
If necessary, select the design element type (e.g., "Objects") from the Contents Type drop-box on the Grid Control panel.
4
Enable the corresponding Attributes section on the Grid Control panel.
5
Select the cell containing the Attribute value that you wish to edit.
5
Checklist Attributes: Click on the dropbox arrow that appears within the cell (or double-click on the cell contents) to display the list of defined alternatives for that checklist Attribute. Select the desired value from this list.
Other Attribute types: Type the new Attribute value and press the <ENTER> key on the keyboard. The next cell in the column will then be active for editing. To exit the cell editing mode, press the <Esc> key or click on another cell in the grid.

Attribute entry in Grid View supports time units for time and reliability Attributes. Using the mouse the units wanted can be selected in the header window.  Values will show in each unit as chosen (eXpress automatically does the conversion to each unit type.)

Caution: When entering Reliability attributes, make sure they are displayed in the they are displayed as failure rates within Grid View (click on the column header until the reliability values are expressed as MTBFs etc.).
