Partial Failure Probability - The portion of an output function or failure mode's relative failure probability that is detected by a test or has been isolated within a fault group. Partial failure probabilities result from the fact that, at a given point during diagnostics, some of the failure modes or lower-level child functions that are associated with a given function may already have been proven good, whereas others may have not (and therefore must play into the calculation of the functions' remaining failure probability). For designs containing failure modes, the calculation of partial failure probabilities is often dependent upon the specified Failure Probability Calculation Method.
