Hiearachical Failure Effects Tests

Feature Description

How to enable Hierarchical Based coverage of Effect Based tests

When working in hierarchical models, dynamic coverage cannot be calculated for assemblies unless “Effect-Based Coverage on Assemblies” has been enabled on the Test Options dialog.

Note: you must enable this feature for all designs in your hierarchical system and then save the entire system hierarchically.

With the lower level Assembly chosen, you must also use Failure Effects coverage type for each chosen assembly covered by the linked test (this can be established on the Context Panel Test Coverage tab (shown to right).
On this panel, you can select which of the assembly’s object effects will be included as dynamic causes of the associated failure effect.

For hierarchical tests, a Source Assembly Effects panel appears during test editing. This panel lists all effects on the assembly from which the test was inherited. This list includes only effects whose lowest-level failure mode causes “affect” upper-level functions associated with the test location port on the assembly.

As with the Test Coverage panel for other assemblies, the selections on the Source Assembly Effects panel will be included as dynamic causes for any failure effects linked to that hierarchical test.
