Independent-Mode Diagnostics

What are Independent Mode Diagnostics?

When eXpress runs detection and Isolation (Non-Independent Mode)  each detection test results in an ambiguity set of the items that were detected. Isolation then uses all the designated isolation tests to breakdown this ambiguity set to the smallest ambiguity sets it can achieve with the existing isolation tests. In that breakdown, if an item is isolated out of the ambiguity set it will not appear in an ambiguity set detected by any other detetection test (It is considered detected and Isolated).

In Independent mode every detected ambiguity set must be isolated out separately independently of any other detected or isolated ambiguity set.

Checking the Independent checkmark, when setting up what detection test to run, causes the detection and Isolation to run in Independent mode.

When you run the Coverage Report, separate coverage and interference sections are not included for independent mode diagnostics.  Instead, the numbers of items, functions and/or failure modes covered by each test are listed in a single section (see below).
