Block Replacement Option

Feature Description

Block Replacement is an approach to maintaining a system in which all items that have been isolated by diagnostics (i.e., all items in an isolated fault group) are replaced together as a block prior to additional tests being performed. Block Replacement is the maintenance strategy most often assumed when assessing the diagnostic capability of device and therefore forms the basis of the most commonly used fault isolation metrics. Compare with Serial Replacement

In the eXpress Fault Isolation Report, metrics based on Block Replacement are included in the category Isolation Probabilities Using Testing Only. In the Subset FD/FI Statistics Report, Block Replacement is assumed when calculating the Probability of Isolating Items in Category to Fault Group of Size 1 Using Only Testing.

In addition to Block Replacement, eXpress diagnostic assessments support Serial Replacement using Lambda Search.
