Naming & Renaming Design States

Feature Description

Design state names can be edited using the Details panel or from within Grid View. Although eXpress does not impose any special naming consideration for design states, it is usually a good idea to assign a name that describes the operational configuration represented by that state. When design states are generated using the Auto-Create operation, the Analyst may wish to replace the automatically assigned names (e.g., "Design State 1") with more descriptive labels (that is, after superfluous design states have been removed from the design based on diagnostic results).

How to Name or Rename Design States (using Grid View)

1
Select the design state(s) for which the abbreviation is to be edited.

Alternative: Abbreviations can be edited for all tests by invoking Grid View with the top-level "DESIGN STATES" folder highlighted in the Explorer tree (or with nothing selected in the tree).
2
Click on theĀ Grid View icon on the View toolbar.
3
If necessary, select "Design States" from the Contents Type drop-box on the Grid Control panel.
4
Edit the label that appears in the Design State Abbreviation column for the desired design state.
