Port Placement Options

Feature Description

Port Placement

The Port Placement  panel on the Topology Import Options dialog contains fields that allow the Analyst to customize port placement for objects imported using the eXpress Spreadsheet Topology Import. This panel can be accessed by clicking on one of the "Options..." buttons on the Main Topology Import Panel and then selecting the Port Placement tab on the Topology Import Options dialog (the Analyst can go straight to this panel by clicking on the "Options..." button to the right of the Port Name Column dropbox). The Port Placement options panel appears as follows:

The first dropbox on this panel allows the Analyst to select the spreadsheet column that defines the location of the imported port. This column may contain either port coordinates (following the format for the Port Location Column in the eXpress Model topology export) or the side (Top, Bottom, Left, Right) of the object on which the port is to be situated.

The Default Locations section is used to specify the side of the object that different port types are to be placed if not explicitly defined in the Port Location Column.

The Default Order dropbox specifies whether ports that are placed by default on the same side of an object are to be alphabetized or alphabetically sorted based on the order in which they appear in the spreadsheet.
The Port Dragging dropbox can be used to specify whether port dragging is to be allowed on imported objects, disallowed, or only allowed when default port locations are used (that is, dis-allowed when specific locations are provided for an object's ports).
