Illustration Usage of Active VS Passive

Feature Description

CASE 1: (Default Input Filtering)

A, B and C are in Passive mode (Default). Nets read as shown below  See Examining Net Functions

 NET A OUT  - B & C read [B-B Out] etc

CASE 2: (Input Filtering Required)

A, B and C are still in Passive mode but B IN is filtered to include A IN1 and A IN2  -- C IN is Filtered to include A IN3 - See Input Functions and Filters for filtering help

NET B OUT

NET C OUT

CASE 3: (No Possible Filtering)

A OUT set to Active mode as shown below - No filtering of B IN or C IN is possible
A, B & C all read "Port Name"

Summary: As can be seen above where input filtering is desired the Analyst must use Passive mode but where no input filtering is needed then Active mode is best as its nets show just 1 function. Hierarchical models can cause many functions on one net making Active mode much easier to work with. Both Active and Passive modes will act the same in diagnostics where no input filtering is used.
