Subsets must be compiled before they can be used. During active editing, compiling is performed automatically (although it can also be invoked manually following the steps listed below). Because all eXpress analyses (including the calculations in Diagnostic and FMECA studies) automatically compile subsets, the Analyst will usually only need to manually compile a subset when he wishes to view the contents of the subset as color-coded objects in the main design window.
Note: Subsets are not automatically updated when the Error Checker is invoked manually, thereby allowing the Analyst to be notified when design changes warrant review of existing subsets (subsets are compiled automatically, however, when the Error Checker is invoked as part of diagnostic or FMECA processing).
