States are added to an object using the grid on the States panel. By default, objects have no states. As states are created, they can subsequently be used to limit test coverage (by enabling or disabling the appropriate states within test definitions). When a state is disabled for a test, propagation through that state's active functions ceases (unless another state that also includes those same output functions is enabled). Functions that are not listed for any of an object's defined states are considered to be always active. In other words, only those functions that are listed for at least one defined object state will be excluded from test coverage due to the state selections in a test's definition.
