Each function listed as an active function within a state definition is assumed to be operating when the state is enabled (for more on enabling states, please refer to the topic "Testing with States"). An object state's active function list can be edited using the States panel.
By default, a state's active functions list is automatically populated by the software. In this mode, the list will contain all output functions defined for the current object. If functions are added or removed from the object, they will also be added or removed from the active functions list. If, on the other hand, the Analyst disables the automatic population of a state's active functions list (by disabling the "Auto" checkbox on the States panel for that state), then the list will not change when output functions are added to the object (although deleted functions will, of course, be removed from the list). Also, when the "Auto" mode is disabled, two icons will appear to the right of the checkbox allowing the Analyst to add (using the "plus" icon) or remove (using the "minus" icon) functions in that state's active functions list.
On the States panel, click on the name of the object state whose active functions are to be changed.

To remove active functions, highlight the function(s) in the active functions list and click on the icon depicting a minus sign that appears above the list.
