Test Candidate Groupings

What are Test Candidate Groupings?

Test Candidate Groupings control the order in which types of tests are selected by a diagnostic strategy. For example, nearly all diagnostic algorithms in eXpress use Test Candidate Groupings to ensure that tests that have been explicitly defined within test sets are utilized before testing with Output Flags or Net Functions. Depending upon the selected algorithm, Test Candidate Groupings can be used to ensure that the diagnostics perform non-intrusive tests before intrusive tests, or BIT tests before functional tests. When evaluating which test candidacy, the diagnostics will select tests that satisfy an earlier candidate grouping before those that satisfy a later grouping (this is true regardless of the defined Test Weightings). As each test is selected by the diagnostics, it starts with the first Test Candidate Grouping so that tests in an early grouping that may have been temporarily unavailable (such as when prerequisites are not yet satistifed) can later be utilized (in this case, test prerequisites may result in tests from a later grouping being performed first).

How are Test Candidate Groupings implemented?

Currently, Test Candidate Groupings are elaborated within the predefined Diagnostic Algorithms and cannot be individually edited.
