Path Subsets

Feature Description

With path subsets, the Analyst selects a location (any I/O flag or other object within the design) and the direction (upstream or downstream) in which the design is to be scanned. When compiled, path subsets are populated with all ports that are upstream or downstream from the specified location (depending upon which direction is selected). The Analyst can also select whether ports on I/O flags are to be included in the subset.

How To Create a Path Subset

1
Right-click on the top-level "SUBSETS" folder in the Explorer Tree and choose "New Subset..." from the pop-up context menu.

Alternative: Choose "New.." from the Subsets submenu within the Design menu.
2
On the Create New Subset dialog, type in the name to be given to the new subset, select the subset type labeled "Path (Upstream/Downstream)" and then click on the "OK" button.

How To Define a Path Subset (in Standard Editing Mode)

1
In the Standard Editing Mode, click on the path subset.
2
Choose the Properties tab within the context panels.
3
On the Properties panel, click on the "..." button to the right of the Location field and use the Select Object dialog to select the location from which the path will be defined.
4
Select either "Scan Upstream" (towards inputs) or "Scan Downstream" (towards outputs) to define how the subset will be filled.
5
If I/O flags should be included in the compiled subset, enable the "Include I/O Flags" checkbox.

How To Modify the Location for a Path Subset Definition (using Active Editing Mode)

1
Create and define the path subset (following the steps listed above).
2
Invoke Active Editing for the path subset.
3
In the main design window, right-click on the I/O flag or other object to be used as the new location.
4
Choose "Use as Path Location" from the Active Subset submenu within the pop-up context menu.
