Availability – The probability that a piece of equipment, subsystem or system, when used under specified conditions, operates satisfactorily and effectively as required. Computed as uptime divided by the sum of uptime plus downtime. Availability can often be improved by increasing Reliability or decreasing the Maintenance Turn Time.
