Hierarchical Duty Cycle Lists

Feature Description

Duty cycle lists can be defined hierarchically by associating one or more assemblies with lower-level duty cycle lists (i.e., duty cycle lists defined within the design to which that assembly is linked). Duty cycles defined at multiple levels are multiplied together when adjusted failure rates are calculated. For example, if a lower-level object is assigned a duty cycle factor of 0.8 and the upper-level assembly linked to that design is also assigned a factor of 0.8, the lower-level raw failure rates will be multipled by 0.64 (the product of the two factors).

Hierarchical duty cycle lists are edited using the Manage Hierarchical Duty Cycle Lists dialog.

How To Define a Hierarchical Duty Cycle List

1
Create and define a duty cycle list.
2
Right-click on the duty cycle list in the Explorer Tree and select "Manage Hierarchy" from the pop-up context menu.

Alternative: Click on the Manage Hierarchy icon (located just to the left of the Description box on the Properties panel for the duty cycle list.
3
On the Manage Hierarchical Duty Cycle List  How to dialog, select the lower-level duty cycles list to be associated with each assembly.

Alternative: Click on the Autolink icon on the Manage Hierarchical Duty Cycle Lists dialog to automatically select for each assembly a lower-level duty cycle list that has the same name as the list currently being edited (if it exists).
