Hierarchical Classes

Feature Description

Hierarchical classes are function classes in which one or more of the assemblies included in the class are associated with lower-level classes (i.e., classes defined within the design to which that assembly is linked).

Hierarchical classes can be edited using either the Hierarchical Subset panel or the Manage Hierarchical Classes dialog.

How To Define a Hierarchical Class (using Dialogs)

1
Create and define a function class.
2
Right-click on the function class in the Explorer Tree and select "Manage Hierarchy" from the pop-up context menu.
3
On the Manage Hierarchical Classes dialog, select the lower-level subset to be associated with each assembly.

Alternative: Click on the Autolink icon on the Manage Hierarchical Classes dialog to automatically select for each assembly a lower-level subset that has the same name as the combination subset currently being edited (if it exists).

Note: although a lower-level class can be selected for any assembly, the associated functions of the specified lower-level class will only be included in the upper-level class if the object associated with that assembly is included in the upper-level subset.
