Symbols can be pasted into the symbol library from various formats. The most obvious source for pasting symbols is from a previously copied symbol within eXpress. However, the symbol library also supports external sources such as Windows Metafiles (WMF), bitmaps (BMP), JPEG and GIF files. Most other drawing and imaging programs, when something is copied, produce a metafile version of the data. eXpress supports importing this when a paste is performed and the clipboard contains such data.
How To Paste Symbols

Navigate to inside of a symbol library in the Symbol Library window (there should be no directories or other libraries showing).

Right-click within the Symbol Library window.

Select "Paste" from the pop-up context menu.
Note: If nothing is pasted, the clipboard does not contain a format suitable for creating symbols.
