A Primary Suspects panel is displayed in the context panel when you click on a test or fault group cell in the Diagnostic Flow Diagram. On this panel are displayed the design elements currently under suspicion at that point in the diagnostics. In this illustration when the Check Battery test (highlighted) is Selected in the Flow diagram the Primary suspects are shown in the Context panel. Here the ECU is intentionally not opened due to the number of Suspects. This feature allows the analyst to check the primary suspects at any place in the flow diagram. It is very useful in determining how to build additional tests for improved isolation.

The suspected functions and/or failure modes are initially listed by object (with the object folders collapsed). A sort button in the lower left corner of the panel can be used to present suspected functions/failure modes alphabetically in a single list (rather than in object folders). Also, an Expand/Collapse button in the lower right corner of the panel can be used to quickly open or close folders. Finally, a text filter box allows the Analyst to track specific suspects.
By default, the Primary Suspects panel appears for any cell selected in the flow diagram. If, for larger systems, this slows down navigation of the tree, the panel can be disabled for detection tests, isolation tests and/or fault groups using a series of checkboxes on the Display panel of the Diagnostic Study Options dialog.
