Basic Design Statistics Report

Report Content

The name of the model is displayed at the top of the report.

For each category in the report, a count of all entities in the current design that fall under that category is provided. This report only counts entities at the local level of the design (counts across multiple design levels are provided in the Study Statistics Report). The report also contains numerous hotlinks that, when clicked on, generate subreports that provide greater detail about the corresponding category (note: a given hotlink will only exist if the design contains one or more entities that fall into the corresponding category). The full set of available hotlinks are depicted in the following sample Design Statistics Report:

The Maximum Dependency Depth is the length of the maximum dependency path (including output functions, ports and net functions) from an output flag back to its origin. When no feedback loops are involved, the origin will be an input flag. For dependency chains that contain feedback loops, the origin may be the deepest spot in the loop where feedback is encountered. A large maximum dependency depth may indicate that dependencies have not been fully edited.

The Maximum Functions on Net specifies the maximum number of net functions that appear on a single net. An excessive number of net functions may arise when a large number of passive components are connected to the same net. By simply changing the source output functions to use active, rather than passive, propagation, you can greatly reduce the amount of time it takes to perform various tasks (such as creating design the I/O table when a model is saved). Each of these two metrics is linked to a report that lists the top 25 instances of each
issue.

A “Input Filtering” section contains statistics for both “User-Defined Input Filters” (previously called “Filtered Inputs” and listed under functions) and “Ports with Forced Propagation” (new in this version).

Sub-reports associated with attributes are grouped differently (with links only appearing or enabled when there is data to support that listing).

A “Test Sets” section has separate entries (with sub-reports) for standard test sets, virtual test sets and test programs.

A  “Effects with Dynamic Causes” statistic appears just below the Failure Effects section.

NOTE This report has multiple Lists subreports. Each blue underlined provides a link to generate a subreport not shown in help.
